No Mayo

The Times just ran this interesting glimpse into the life of 26-year old Reggie Love, Barack Obama's personal assistant. While the details are a bit gratuitous - it sounds like the writer is comparing notes on a crush sometimes - it does manage to humanize the political process a bit. Also, the piece makes a reference to I Heart Huckabees and Shania's dislike for mayo...

I think you're right, the author of the piece sounded like he longed to serve as Obama's go-to man. I also had a difficult time reconciling how long the piece was and its ending, which included a list of things Obama doesn't like.

On a side note, is it a requirement that anyone following democratic politics be intimately familiar with the early years of The West Wing?!? Times writers tend to toss Bartlett references around pretty damn freely...

I've never even seen a single episode of The West Wing. Is that wrong?

It's very very wrong. For awhile there, The West Wing was the best show on television. The end of the first season through the beginning of the third season is consistently fantastic.

Go watch it.
